The Granby is an impressive local landmark, a former hotel, that lay tired and neglected for many troubled years until it was purchased by Revival Properties in 1994. The building was subdivided and converted to three separate uses. The central portion became a residential care home; the west wing converted to nineteen apartments and the east wing a nursing home. A certain amount of internal refurbishment including phased upgrading of bedrooms in the residential carried out whilst the hotel continued to operate and its transition involved only a few weeks complete closure. All the apartments have been sold and both the residential care home and the nursing home have proved successful enterprises.
